Q)  What is PANACeA?
A) PAN Asian Collaboration for Evidence-based eHealth Adoption and Application (PANACeA) is an initiative to generate evidence in the field of eHealth within the Asian context, by forming a network of researchers from developing Asian countries.

Q) What are the objectives of PANACeA?
A) The specific objectives are to identify:
1) To support a set of multi-country research activities to address the four core research questions
 2) To create a theoretical model for evaluating good practice in eHealth programs in Asia
3) To build research capacity amongst Asian researchers to evaluate and adopt appropriate eHealth technologies and practices and influence policy and decision-makers
4) To disseminate research findings widely in the regional and international research communities

Q) What initiatives have been taken by the PANACeA
A) There are mainly two initiatives
1.  PCTAs: An important aspect of this project is the crosscutting issues, also named PANACeA Common Thematic Activities (PCTAs), to support the e-health initiatives. These issues are lead by one Advisory and Monitoring Member and supported by 1-3 other members.
2.     Projects: PANACeA has started 8 different projects on the use of ICT in Health sector. These initiatives are in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Canada.

Q) What is the funding agency name?
A) The activity is funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.

Q) Who is leading PANACeA Project
A) This eHealth Project is led by the Aga Khan University, Pakistan.

Q) What is AMT and what is its role in PANACeA?
A) Projects will be supervised and mentored by the Advisory and Monitoring team (AMT) comprising of Project manager from Aga Khan University (AKU), project advisor from University of Calgary, and three other eHealth experts from Asia.  Regular communication, reporting and mentoring of the projects will be done through online-discussion forums and visits by the project manager, deputy project lead, and the members of AMT.

Q) What is the duration of this project?
A) The entire project is spread over three years the entire period is divided into the following three phases:
i)    Needs-assessment and finalization of research proposals (6 months)
ii)    Implementation and supervision (24 months)
iii)    Reporting, Dissemination and Evaluation (6 months)

Q) What eHealth topics are being covered in the PANACeA project?
A) PANACeA has 8 multi-national projects which have taken initiatives to generate evidence in the field of eHealth within the Asian context. These project are:
1) Multi Institutional Study on the Cost Benefit of Hospital Automation (Patient Registration and Laboratory Systems)   [CBA]                                                                          
2) A framework to identify gaps in the use of eHealth in Primary Health Care Settings [PHC]
3) Portable System for Telehealth and Health Informatics in Rural & Remote Areas [THIRRA]
4) Online TB Diagnostic Committees to Improve Case Detection in the TB-DOTS Program [TBDOTS]
5) Improving maternal health care services by using ICTs for remote consultation and education [RC]
6) Community-based e-Health Promotion for Safe Motherhood: Linking Community Maternal Health Needs with Health Services System [SMP]
7) Exploratory Intervention Research on e-Health for the Visually Challenged  [VI]
8) A systematic review of current ICT applications in disasters – the potentials of integrating telemedicine [DISASTER]
